Sri Pada or Adam’s Peak is the fourth highest mountain in Sri Lanka at 7,295ft.  We started from the village of Dalhousie at 2.00am and reached the peak at around 4.15am still in darkness.  The sun rose 2hrs later and we immediately forgot we were soaked and frozen.

Sri Pada 2006

“The steep sides of the mountain are difficult to climb, but when one arrives at the summit, with the help of chains and steps cut on the rocks, one is confronted with a scene of indescribable grandeur, particularly if the climb is accomplished so as to be at the summit at sunrise.”
